Happy Earth Day!

I love celebrating things, and today is one of those days. If you live under a rock, or in a deep hole then you are unaware that today is Earth Day. A day to celebrate the great planet we live on.

Don't get me wrong our planet is great, I've got no beef with Earth, but our society nowadays really needs to put more effort into taking care of the planet. We all need to make a conscious effort in finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint. So today, I took transit to work. I always do, but I think that today if you can, try and get on the bus. It really isn't that bad if you've got a good book or your ipod. In fact, a lot of the time sitting on the bus can be entertaining. From my experience I have seen some crazies on the bus and the subways.

I also made sure that every light in my apartment was off today when I left for work. It only makes sense. I am sure the centipedes don’t mind. Damn spring weather, you bring back all the bugs.

When I brushed my teeth I made sure that the water was not running unless it needed to be. And I will do the same when I do the dishes this evening.

In the end any ‘Earth Day’ actions that you do today to make a difference should be done every day.

So Happy Earth Day to all!

Memorable Meeting

This afternoon I met with my two supervisors to go over my experience at my internship. We went through the entire grading sheet, and they each gave me their feeback. There were more better things said then negative, and I am glad it turned out that way.

As they suggested areas to improve upon, and certain things they would have liked to seen more of I started to get a little overwhelmed inside. I understood exactly what they were saying, and inside I was wishing I had done something about it earlier on.

In the end though, they were very impressed with me and know two years from now I will only get better. After they said their part, I broke down and started to cry. I was overcome with emotion, and overwhelmed to be finished school. But you know what, it was okay. I just couldn't hold it in anymore.

So I said my schpeel and on we went.

At my internship I really got to know myself better, because every other job I have had was not career focused. Other than part-time jobs and being a student for the last 16ish years, I now know more about myself as an adult who is about to enter the real world.

I am very content right now and yes, I am proud of myself too.

ooo, boy your drive is affecting me.

A few weeks ago I was on perezhilton's website, and he had posting a song by Leighton Meester.

I can't get enough of this song!

Must Read

I was sad to turn that final page, but this morning I finished one of the best books I have ever read. Water For Elephants, by Sara Gruen, tells the tale of Jacob Jankowski and his adventures as he runs away from university and joins the circus.

The chapters are told from his point of view as a 23-year old, and a ninety-three year old. The way that Sara Gruen writes is fantastic. She uses such descriptive words that it feels like you are actually there, attending the circus during the depression of the 1930's.

I highly recommend this book! It is so good that you won't be able to put it down! I waited almost three months on a wait list for this novel! Over 200 people were on the list.So go to your closest library, chapters, indigo, and buy it!

For my roommates

My roommates had to create a viral video for their broadcasting class. They could do whatever they wanted, as long as it had no porn in it. The more hits their video gets the higher their grade will be.

Apartments and Ice Cream

Today in my office two co-workers were laughing about this posting for an apartment in Halifax. They sent me the link and I wanted to share it with you. Is this for real?

Reminder: On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, Baskin Robbins is having 31¢ scoops between 5-10 p.m. I am a fan of Dairy Queen, as I worked there for a very long time, but you can't go wrong with a deal like that!

Rant of the Week

I have discovered a new pet peeve. I have added it to my list, which includes:

People who chew with their mouth open
Those who drag their feet
The newest edition: Litterers

This new pet peeve emerged the other day while I was taking the subway to work. I noticed a lady drop her granola wrapper on the ground and kick it with her feet. She acknowledged that she dropped it, and did absolutely nothing about it. I even noticed another lady across from me rolling her eyes and shaking her head. I was tempted to say something to this wrapper-dropping-lazy-woman, but I kept my composure, got off and went on with the day.

Seems to be that this wrapper-dropping-lazy-woman had a friend taking the subway the following morning. While reading her book she placed her coffee on the ledge behind one of the seats. I figured she would grab it as soon as we left the station, but nu-uh. She best not be leaving that coffee cup there -- was what I was thinking. Then, dun-dun-dun, the cup fell. She looked at it, kicked it around a couple times and went back to reading.

That’s it. Your lazy friend got away the day before, but consider her lucky.

So, as we pulled up to St. Clair station I took my headphones out and stood near her. Before the doors opened I leaned in and said,“Excuse me Mrs., I think you dropped your garbage on the floor.” Just loud enough so that others heard.

I hope I embarrassed this culprit.
She deserved it, and you will too.
If caught littering around me…on the ttc.

Steal

Today on my lunch I was planning on treating myself to a greasy meal from Wendy’s. Why I considered this a 'treat' I have no idea. Anyways, I didn't end up buying any sort of lunch. Instead I bought pantyhose and a pair of shoes. By the way, pantyhose are ridiculously overpriced. I picked a good day to buy them, 50% off. Yay!

On the way back to the office I passed the Town Shoes store. Displayed are all the Barbie inspired shoes. Remember when you would play with them, and always lose the shoes. I always spent too much time getting their outfits ready and by the time I knew it I had to leave my friends, and we didn’t even get the chance to start playing.

So I decided to go in. The man at the counter was super friendly, “Would you like to win $100 to Town Shoes?” Um, yes I would. So I filled out the form, and made my way to the sale rack. Sorry, but that’s where I can afford the shoes in this store.

This is what I bought. They were a steal at $27. Originally $120, down to $75, and then $45, and I bought them at $36 – an additional 25% off!!

Kristi Blogczak

One sunday afternoon while listening to way back play backs , ( songs from albums such as MuchDance 95 & 96) with a dear close friend, I was asked to start writing a blog. "Kristi, if you wrote a blog, I would read it. It would be hilarious to hear you rant."

I often rant about my 'adventures' on the subway to my roommates, and figured why not start writing it out.

I decided to call my blog 'Just Put B' because my entire life nobody has known how to spell my last name. Z before the C? K after the Z? So, in the end I always tell them, "Just put B."

Here's to hoping that I acutally keep up with this blog.

Cheers!
